Accents play a massive role in how we understand or misunderstand each other. It is a part of communication that most people wish they could avoid because it can lead to significant misinterpretations.

In our country alone, there is room for misinterpretation because of the diverse nature of our people. With eleven official languages, we are sure to find at least one person we do not understand.

Our very own Tyla was on the other side of an interview when she misinterpreted the interviewer and what he asked.

In an interview with Tyla at the Paris Olympic Games 2024 opening ceremony, an interviewer asked her: "Are there any athletes you are looking forward to watching?"
