#TheFixer with Stacey & JSbu: "I feel like I'm being objectified every time I'm at work"
Updated | By Stacey & JSbu
In this week’s edition of #TheFixer, Stacey, JSbu, and KZN heard from anonymous, who is dealing with stares at work because of the way she dresses.
#TheFixer is a new feature that will be driven by you, KZN.
Listeners can send Stacey & JSbu their personal dilemma stories where they need a resolution, closure or a solution. Stacey & JSbu will discuss the dilemma on air, and then hand it over to KZN for a judgement-free fix.
KZN will be given the chance to help fix the problem with their thoughts and ideas. If needed, a professional (i.e. a legal consultant or therapist) will advise.
On Wednesday night, Stacey & JSbu received the following message:
Hi KZN, some advise please. Without giving away where I work, I will just share that I work in a creative space, think of the kind of job where you can come to work wearing shorts, a colourful Hawaiian shirt and some times flip flops. I have been getting a lot of dirty looks from my female colleagues re: the length of my dresses or skirts. They never say anything to my face but I can just see by their looks. How do I address this? I will share a picture of what I wore today- I do not want to be objectified but would like your opinion on how to address this with them. My boss and HR think the way I dress is completely fine.- Anonymous
