'Takalani Sesame', a beloved South African children's show, has been nominated for a prestigious Webby Award for its innovative campaign promoting parental play.

The Bond Through Play campaign, which encouraged fathers and father figures to connect with kids through play, has been recognised under the 'Video & Film', 'General Video & Film', and 'Kids & Family' sections of the Webby Awards.

This nomination is a significant achievement for the Sesame Workshop South Africa team, who worked tirelessly to create a socially impactful effort that highlights the importance of play in a child's development.

By focusing on parental involvement, particularly from fathers, the campaign aimed to foster cognitive, physical, social, and emotional growth in children.

The campaign's success can be attributed to its engaging approach, which featured some of South Africa's favourite dads spreading the word about the importance of play.

Since its launch in August 2024, the campaign has made a positive impact, and now, the public has the opportunity to vote for 'Takalani Sesame' to take the win.

As this nomination falls under the Webby's 'People's Voice' umbrella, everyone can participate in the voting process.

By casting a vote for 'Takalani Sesame', South Africans can show their support for local creativity and innovation.
