Surprise! Couple discover stowaway in their luggage as they check in for flight

This is why the flight attendants are always asking: "Did you pack this bag yourself?"

Trying to sneak onto an aeroplane is risky business.

There is almost no way you can navigate your way through an airport without showing your boarding pass or identification documents.
Then there's all the security, the checking and double-checking. It's almost like a fortress.

So if you did ever make the decision to grab a quick free flight to somewhere, chances are that's definitely not going to happen.
But as it turns out, one recent stowaway almost successfully boarded a flight to Las Vegas.

And all they did was make themselves comfy in someone's luggage. Their owner's luggage to be specific.
Seeing as Icky, the chihuahua is teeny, tiny, it's no surprise that she almost got away with it!

Jared Owens and his wife, Kristi, were at the airport, checking in for their flight to Vegas when the airline told them their bag was 2,5kg overweight.
They thought it was a bit strange but proceeded to open the luggage so they could rearrange a few things to get it back to the accepted weight.

Although they never could have expected the shock they were about to receive:

Luckily, a Southwest airline employee named Cathy Cook was willing to take care of little sneaky Icky until the couple returned from their trip.
But how did Icky end up in this sticky situation in the first place?

It's a good thing Icky revealed herself when she did otherwise this story could have had a more upsetting end.
Maybe someday Icky will become the jet setting chihuahua she was meant to be but until then she'll be staying at home.
