Suncoast East Coast Radio Big Walk: You walked your way to glory in 2024!
Updated | By East Coast Radio
Suncoast East Coast Radio’s Big Walk was (once again) a smash hit! You walked, danced, and celebrated with us in a way we won’t forget.
The energy was electric at KZN's biggest family event – the Suncoast East Coast Radio Big Walk!
The Durban sun beat down on a sea of yellow and turquoise hues as more than 20,000 participants kicked off two decades of the East Coast Radio Big Walk with a bang! Energetic music filled the air as QueenFitnass led the enthusiastic participants in a warm-up session.
The East Coast Breakfast team, known for their infectious energy, officially started the walk (with the help of a blaring start horn!).
Participants were treated to a special opportunity to take pictures and videos with their favourite ECR presenters, creating memories that are sure to last a lifetime.
As participants set off on their chosen routes, aQuellé stocked the refreshment stations, ensuring everyone stayed cool and hydrated under the Durban sun.
Every refreshment station was a mini-party station, with East Coast Radio personalities and entertainers cheering participants on with positive vibes and high fives. Walkers were met with electrifying performances by Northwood Boys Choir, Veranda Panda, DJ Deon G, and more!
The party didn't stop at the finish line! Crossing the mark was just the beginning of the post-walk extravaganza. Spot prizes rained down while cool-down sessions led by the talented QueenFitnass, Teal Hogg, and Sharilee brought everything to a calming close.
Adam MacIntyre, Suncoast’s Director of Operations, noted how the Big Walk was transformed into a truly unforgettable event:
“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our event partners, particularly East Coast Radio, as well as our fellow sponsors and, of course, all the participants. Our collective efforts have transformed this event into an unforgettable experience. May the memories forged during the 2024 Suncoast East Coast Radio Big Walk continue to inspire and bring joy to all who were part of it.”
The Suncoast East Coast Radio Big Walk was a KZN knockout! From the turnout to the electric atmosphere, YOU proved why this province is legendary for its community spirit.
Mzuvele Mthethwa, Managing Director of East Coast Radio, emphasised the importance of giving attendees something new and exciting to look forward to each year, stating:
“We set out to entertain our walkers and to make sure the experience of the event is a memorable one not only for friends and family walking the event together, but for the kids of KZN as well. So, bringing the entertainment alive on route was a key highlight for us as a brand to make those memories more meaningful and impactful.”
This year, Suncoast and East Coast Radio showed love for Khethiwe, a rehabilitation therapy centre in MarianHill, Pinetown, that supports children with Cerebral Palsy and other neurological impairments.
Khethiwe received a generous donation of R100,000, made possible by the support of everyone who bought a Big Walk ticket and the people of KZN.
Thank you to everyone who laced up their sneakers and joined the fun. You embodied the true meaning of "togetherness" – supporting each other, celebrating health, and soaking up that Durban sunshine.
We can't wait to do it all again next year – bigger and better, of course!
