Stacey and J Sbu speak about their 2023

"The biggest lesson that I learned in 2023 is..."
How can you start the year off without some reflection time?
We asked Stacey and J Sbu on separate occasions to share something that 2023 taught them and surprisingly (well, not so much), 2023 was a year of teaching and some hardship.
We think everyone can agree that 2023 was not an easy year, but we would be naive to think that everything in life is smooth sailing and comes without some obstacles.

We guess the main thing to always remember is that with hardship and suffering comes the will to see the light in everything around us.
We asked J Sbu what was the biggest lesson he learned in 2023, and this is what he had to say.
The biggest lesson that I learned in 2023 is that suffering is a huge part of life. Hardships are necessary and tough times are important to go through and as you are going through them to have the belief and the hope that you will get through it. It is a huge part of life and perhaps as a person it is the only way you can grow, become better and evolve and get closer and closer to becoming the person who fulfils their purpose on Earth. Another lesson that I learnt in 2023 is every one of us walking on this Earth has the underlying purpose of leaving Earth a better place than we found it and only when you find your purpose you will be able to do that. It is very deep stuff and I went through quite a lot this year and I am grateful for every experience. Those are the two lessons that I learnt in 2023 that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.- J Sbu
Then we asked Stacey to share her favourite moment of 2023 and this is what she had to say.
I have not been overly secretive about how dreadful this year has been personally. There has been an ordinate amount of loss for me in 2023 and it's been a hard year, obviously because it's never a great time to lose someone you care about but also you're simultaneously trying to maintain who you are and not get lost in the loss. Both J and I have had quite trying years personally so to be able to come to work and kind of today you get to be at 40% and I'll be at 60 and vice versa has been immensely helpful. These are obviously things that the audience at large wouldn't necessarily know about or even pick up on because that's not their job and we just want you to listen and have a great time and try and maintain and be consistent in who we are so that the audience isn't deprived of anything but simultaneously being people and trying to process things in real time. The big highlight and takeaway from this all is that J and I really do get along really well. We have a lot of respect for each other and there's been a lot of empathy and care because we have grown leaps and bounds because we've both been through a lot of trying times in 2023. Honestly, I would say the highlight of 2023 as far as work is concerned is having a highly functional partnership with J Sbu. And having an audience that really loves us and really respects our boundaries and having conversations that are honest, what you hear is genuinely who we are.- Stacey Norman
