Gold diggers, social climbers, and even clout chasers run amok in our society. Ignorance may be bliss but this week, Stacey and J Sbu have decided to uncover these people who chase clout.
A clout chaser is a critical term for a person who is thought to be intent on attaining fame, especially one who tries to do so in ways considered desperate, such as leveraging their proximity to famous people or doing things considered foolish, degrading, or dangerous.
"Fame above all," is the mentality of these individuals.

"We have come across a lot of people in Mzansi dropping thousands on bar tabs, driving flashy cars, and wearing expensive clothes while they are struggling to make ends meet," shares Stacey and J Sbu.
The way that the social scene in South Africa works is that many people are utilising someone's clout/social standing to get what they want.
There is a lot of negative sentiment around influencers or people believed to be clout chasers. The problem is that these phoney folks are often hidden in plain sight. Even you can be a clout chaser!
