Is Somizi Mhlongo-Motaung a thief?
Updated | By Stacey and JSbu
Social media has been in a tailspin since late last night after news broke with regard to one of the most recognisable faces and voices on SA television.
Choreographer, TV and Media personality, and 'Idols SA' judge Somizi is making headlines for all the wrong reasons. He has been accused of theft by Producer Hastings Moeng.
Hastings claims that he pitched a light-hearted television show similar to the one that is airing on Mzansi Magic with Somizi, known as 'Dinner at Somizi's'.
Hastings says that he sent his synopsis for the show in 2014 to Somizi and the producer of the show. Even though he never received a response from the two, he could not help but see the startling similarities with the cooking show that is currently on-air. Somizi, Multichoice, and the current producer of the show are yet to comment on the allegations.
That has not stopped social media from airing their views on the matter:
On 28 July 2014, Hastings Moeng proposed #DinnerAtSomizis to Somizi & Themba. The description of the show is materially similar to the one now flighted (to the shock of Mr Moeng). See the 2014 email below and decide for yourself. (1/2) pic.twitter.com/QVcpJIAY8o

More than half of the programs we see on our TV have a similar story... And people who have money get away with these things all the time... |Somizi| pic.twitter.com/sqUjnYaMv4

This Somizi thing is the reason we watch the same People on tv forever. there is really something very wrong with South African television if you watch Mzanzi Magic they might be 10 different dramas but the same actors,i feel like am watching the same thing really.

This whole thing reminds me of #NkosinathiNkomo who's water purification idea was stolen by the DA government. He mysteriously fell from a building and died, till today no one really knows what happened to him 💔 pic.twitter.com/E7czs7pCAp
