Snakes get severely affected by loadshedding?!
Updated | By Stacey & J Sbu
Even snakes have had enough of South Africa's power outages...
New research shows that its lights out for snakes during loadshedding.
It all started with a pet snake called 'Crawly' who slithered into the vet for a check-up after presenting with a snotty nose.
This sick case then elicited a reaction from the "top dogs" in the industry who noticed problems caused by a drop in vivarium temperatures of the serpents.

Similarly, respiratory disease, digestive issues, and constipation are just some of the problems caused by the drop in vivarium temperatures.
Specialists have attributed this to loadshedding.
The veterinary team at Cape Exotic Animal Hospital in Durbanville have issued a statement on the matter:
"We highly recommend all reptile owners to have a system set up that will allow their reptiles to continue getting heat during load shedding hours."- Cape Exotic Animal Hospital in Durbanville
Unfortunately, it doesn't seem that we will be able to escape loadshedding for the forseeable future.
Keep your snakes warm and remember to conserve electricity.
