A smartphone boil-off!
Updated | By Stacey and JSbu
It seems the battle of the smartphones has officially reached boiling point!
Vote below:
Some are calling it an expensive and unnecessary test. The video, which has been viewed more than 1.4-million times, shows an Apple iPhone 6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 being dropped into a pot of boiling water.
Neither smartphone is advertised as being water resistant and, as a result, the test is short-lived. After only ten seconds, the iPhone 6's screen suddenly clouds with black liquid.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 manages to last a little bit longer in the boiling water and even displays an on-screen temperature warning as it simmers in its 100 degree bath.
At the end of the video, both flagship smartphones are in poor shape. After both devices cool off, the Apple iPhone momentarily comes back to life. The standard loading screen shows up for a moment, but soon crashes. Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy S6 remains lifeless.
