Married KZN listener's message for singles: "Don't project your unhappiness"

Stacey and J Sbu open up about their own experiences with regards to single life vs relationships.
Being single is a lot of fun. With the right person, being in a relationship is also a lot of fun.

But relationships and singledom are about so much more than just having fun.
It's about creating a connection with someone else and maybe starting a family of your own.

While many women, and men, strive for this lifestyle, there are an equal amount of people who are happy enough remaining single and unmarried their entire life.
It's become such a cliché that a single woman past a certain age will "never find love", "is picky", "should just settle down" or they might miss their opportunity to have a life filled with kids and happiness.

Sure, men are subjected to similar questions, but an older man who is still unmarried is admired for living the "bachelor" lifestyle and is almost never bombarded with questions about having children.
But as it turns out, research shows that women are the ones who are happier on their own!

Paul Dolan is a professor of behavioural science at the London School Of Economics and is even called a 'happiness expert'. According to PsychologyToday.com, Dolan says that while men derive benefits from marriage, generally, the same cannot be said for women.
He explains that married men tend to "calm down", they take fewer risks, live healthier lives, and earn more money. But the same health benefits do not affect women.

Dolan has confirmed that the "healthiest and happiest population subgroup are women who never married or had children."
As it turns out, women are just more satisfied remaining single as opposed to men because of various reasons.

One of the reasons why women are more content with being single is because men tend to depend quite heavily on their wives for social networks, confidantes, and social ties, whereas women are better at having alternative social networks where they are more involved.
Stacey is happily single but is she significantly happier when she's on her own as opposed to when she's in a committed relationship?
