Shein’s supply chain stalls: What it means for SA buyers
Updated | By Stacey & J Sbu
A number of factories that supply e-commerce site Shein have stopped business, which may have ripple effects for SA shoppers.

Factories in China’s Guangzhou province, which supply Shein, have gone silent.
The factories in "Shein Village" house thousands of unsold items that are now stored within these closed warehouses.
This comes after the United States government started making changes in terms of imports.
According to a report by IOL, the Trump Administration got rid of an exemption, which used to allow products under $800 (about R14,800) to be shipped to the US without consumers paying import duties.
The United States is Shein’s biggest market.
Here’s what it means for South African Shein shoppers:
Shein's delivery timelines may be further delayed due to reduced production, particularly affecting South African customers who already experience longer wait times.
With fewer orders being processed as a result of recent changes in the US, there’s also a chance that prices could rise as the company looks to offset potential losses.
Additional challenges may include a more limited product range and potential delays or complications at customs.
