Prudence Sekgodiso speeds to victory, claiming South Africa's first women's medal at the World Indoor Championships with a blistering 800m performance.

What a moment! Prudence Sekgodiso has etched her name in the history books, becoming the first South African woman to win a medal at the World Indoor Championships.

The 23-year-old sensation sprinted to victory in the 800m event, clocking a world-leading time of 1:58.40 in Nanjing, China.

Sekgodiso's performance was nothing short of phenomenal. She expertly navigated the four 200m laps, strategically positioning herself before unleashing a devastating sprint in the final stretch. 

Her rivals were left in the dust as she floated across the finish line, securing a well-deserved gold medal. 

Her confidence will undoubtedly soar as she sets her sights on the outdoor season, with the World Championships in Tokyo beckoning in September.
