Rape case thrown out: Is the battle between Sjava and Lady Zamar finally over?
Updated | By Stacey and JSbu
News has broken about the rape case singer Lady Zamar opened against musician and ex-boyfriend Sjava - it has been thrown out of court by the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA).
South Africa has been butting heads after news broke out Monday night that the NPA threw out the rape case opened against Sjava by Lady Zamar.
This was on the grounds that they believed “the facts or evidence do not support a successful prosecution”.
Sjava's management said it had "no comment" on the case being thrown out of court after they were contacted and on the other side of the ring, Lady Zamar's management also did not want to respond on the story of the case being thrown out.
When the story broke out of the two being involved, SA was shocked that Sjava and Lady Zamar were even in a two-year relationship to begin with when the couple confirmed their split. After that mild drama, Lady Zamar went full force and opened a case of rape against Sjava. During that time she also penned a lengthy Twitter thread about the pain she had allegedly endured at the hands of an ex-boyfriend.
Sjava addressed the abuse and assault allegations levelled against him. He told followers he had filed an application for the matter to be heard in the high court:
As a final statement on this matter, I write to you as my colleagues, business partners, peers and supporters to inform you that I will not be engaging on matters of assault and abuse levelled against me on social media or any other platform. I have instituted legal proceedings in the high court of SA and as such the matter is now sub judice- Sjava
After the rape accusation, Sjava had a hard time, especially when it came to work opportunities. He ended up releasing another statement in the form of a video on his Instagram.
In the video below, Sjava denies raping Lady Zamar and called for people not to judge him, as it was affecting his pocket.
Lady Zamar also responded with a video, remaining adamant that she had been raped by the Xola musician and went on to detail what happened on that fateful night.
Below are some of the reactions on social media:
This has been running for 3 yrs? Sjava's life has been disrupted for 36 months? The damage is severe , hope he has the courage to start working again. https://t.co/g0O5zwvjOj
