Uber Eats' 2024 Cravings Report has shed light on the country's top food delivery trends.

One notable highlight is that Durban has emerged as the most vegan-friendly city in South Africa, with 0.6% of all orders being plant-based.

The report also revealed some interesting ordering habits. According to IOL, one user spent a staggering R20,000 on a single order of expensive cognac, making it the most expensive order of the year.

Other users also showed their love for food delivery, with one customer placing 2,378 orders in 2024, averaging more than six orders a day. Another user ordered on 364 days of the year, showcasing their dedication to convenience.

In terms of popular items, South Africans have a clear preference for chicken, with "crispy chicken" being the most searched term on the app in 2024.

Users also took advantage of discounts on the app, with one customer saving over R18,000 in 2024 on 779 orders with Uber One.

These trends show the growing reliance on food delivery services in South Africa, with Uber Eats becoming a staple of convenience for food and grocery deliveries since its launch in 2016.

The report provides valuable insights into the country's eating habits and preferences, highlighting the diversity and demand for convenient food options.
