Piers Morgan set to leave 'Good Morning Britain' following Meghan Markle backlash

Morgan has announced that he will be leaving his morning show, hours after his comments about Meghan Markles mental health went viral.

Television network, ITV made the announcement moments ago, stating that they have accepted the decision to leave the breakfast show by Piers. 

In the statement, ITV shared in part the following: 

Ofcom which is the government-approved regulatory and competition authority for the broadcasting, telecommunications and postal industries of the United Kingdom launched an investigation into Piers' comments. 

The comments were in relation to those he made on his show with regards to Meghan and Harry's interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Ofcom,  shared that they had received more than 41, 000 complaints from the public. Piers had made disparaging remarks on his 'Good Morning Britain' show about Meghan’s claims during a tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey that aired in the US on Sunday night to have had issues with her mental health.

During the bombshell interview, Meghan Markle opened up to Oprah and shared the following: 

Piers Morgan has been relentless in his criticism of Markle and Harry, once again questioned Markle's sincerity in her interview with Oprah.

On Tuesday mornings show, Piers stormed off his own show after another heated discussion about Meghan. This time the altercation was with his colleague, Alex Beresford.
