Updated | By Faheedah Crouch
Nasiphi Khafu was moulded from a youngster on the court to Director of Partnerships. She gives us the exclusive...
Originally from Cabazana Village in Mount Ayliff, Eastern Cape, Khafu relocated to Durban in 2003 to complete her high school career and later further her studies at the Durban University of Technology. This is where she used sports to connect with others.
“I loved the community that was built around sports and that was the one way that I was able to interact with people and build a community and a safe space for myself," she said.

Nasiphi was granted the opportunity to further her studies in both Tourism and Sport Management at DUT, where she later decided on the latter to lead her to the work she does today.
“I went back when I was in university to ask for an internship so I could build up my hours before I could graduate, and that was my introduction to this."
Little did she know the world was her oyster.
I didn't know at the time it would last a lifetime. I've been in the organisation now for over 16 years. Started in high school to coaching, to being an international Fellow in Peace of Northern Ireland. And coming back now to be in senior leadership at Peace Players, it's been quite a trajectory.- Nasiphi Khafu
The Durbanite believes that her influence through her work is a passion she holds dear.
“I think as a person who is so passionate about sports and sports administration, even with my role, you will hear that I'm very passionate about strategy, so I'm not a person to just accept what I receive, but I want to be able to influence change."
