This one's for the metal heads: A banana hammer
Updated | By Stacey & J Sbu
These would've been a great prop for Bananarama...
When we think about hammers, we don't usually think of a banana.
But it seems Japanese iron factory, Ikeda, thought it would be a great idea to create a metal banana hammer.
As you can imagine, this is no ordinary iron plant, they "specialise in precision metal processing for creating original products with the potential to go viral online." (Oddity Central)
"Over the years, they created all sorts of geeky products, from anime-inspired robot masks, figurines, and realistic metallic replicas of various fruits and vegetables, from pineapple to broccoli, but their most popular product so far has to be the banana hammer." (Oddity Central)
Why anyone would want to use a hammer shaped like a banana is beyond us, but it has obviously got people intrigued.
The product is not new, it was first created by Ikeda in 2019 when the banana hammers were shaped to look like bananas grown in the Philippines. It seems people were fond of the idea and now it has become a "commercially viable product".

The banana hammer was such a great hit that Ikeda decided to make mini banana hammers.
"They make great paperweights as well. Both the big banana hammer and the mini version can be purchased online for 11,877 yen ($80) and 3,287 yen ($22), respectively."
That's around R1,496 and R411, respectively. For that price, we think we are good with normal hammers for now, thank you.
