Celebrities
and social media would have us believe it’s easy, even enjoyable, but the
reality is co-parenting can be one of the hardest things to navigate.
Such is the case for this week's submission for #TheFixer: Fixing KZN One Drive At A Time.
#TheFixer is a feature on Stacey and J Sbu's show in which the duo gives KZN listeners an opportunity to share their dilemmas that they seek advice on. Together with the help of fellow KZN listeners, Stacey and J Sbu try to help the concerned party fix their problem.
READ: "My family has shunned me simply because of whom I choose to love."
Lauren who is a mom of two teenage girls, wrote into the show sharing her co-parenting challenges with their father and her ex-boyfriend:
I am a single mom of two girls whom I co-parent with my ex. My ex is a serial dater and he introduces almost every girlfriend to our girls which I think is really inappropriate. His relationships also do not last which affects my girls. I have tried speaking to him and he says that I have no right to tell him what to do. What can I do?- Lauren
Granted, it takes a while for many separated parents to 'perfect' their co-parenting journey, and one can only imagine how that journey evolves as the kids get older.
Lauren is concerned about the impact seeing their dad with multiple women will have on her daughters.
What recourse should she look into?
Is going the legal route and going to family court her first point of reference or perhaps she needs to set up a meeting with him and the girls?
These are just some of the questions weighing heavily on Lauren's mind.
Listen to Lauren unpack her story in her own words below:
During the show, J Sbu received a call from KZN listener Craig, who was unimpressed with a comment he had heard from J Sbu as advise to Lauren.
