Mother meets her baby for the first time after recovery from broken neck
Updated | By Stacey and JSbu
Jane was unable to see her baby for the first seven weeks after she broke her neck shortly after giving birth to her daughter.
This has to be one of the saddest but happiest stories ever. A mother was able to be reunited with her baby, Tatenda, after the unforeseen happened.
Jane welcomed a beautiful baby girl into the world in early October but shortly after giving birth, while being transferred from the operating table to a ward bed, she collapsed and broke her neck.
Jane was then rushed to a special ward right after the incident, which focuses on neck injuries. But the most heart breaking part of this was that she was not going to be able to spend time with her new baby girl.
As a mother who just gave birth to her baby, she was obviously devastated by the news of not seeing her baby and that made the entire situation all the more stressful!
But Jane had no choice because she had to stay completely still for seven weeks before they could assess the damage. Not being with her baby girl broke her heart daily, but thankfully her husband Charles was able to take the baby home and care for her while Jane was in hospital.
After what happened, a lady called Liezel Maderal Maree started a crowdfund to help cover medical bills and all additional costs incurred.
Recently, really happy news was shared that Jane was finally out of traction and has been signed off to wear a neck brace while she continues her recovery.
We have good news ! First time since birth … Jane is reunited with her baby and finally out of hospital after 7 weeks on her back In Traction. Her neck C2 is healed enough to allow her to wear the neck brace at home for 6 more weeks. She can count her lucky stars!!!! We are so thrilled! Meet little Tatenda. It means, Thank you!- Liezel
If you'd like to continue supporting Jane as she still needs extensive medical care, you can do so via the crowdfund here.
