Updated | By Stacey and JSbu
Let's face it, we could all use some companionship right now. If you are not lucky enough to have a significant other, perhaps the love of a cuddly pet minus the admin of a real pet may help?
Meet Moflin, an AI pet with “emotional capabilities that evolve like living animals, perfect for those who are wary of picking up after dogs and cats."

A Japanese tech firm has created Moflin, who looks like a cross between a hamster and a cat. Did we also mention that Moflin is an award winner?
According to The Next Web website, Moflin won the Best Innovation Award in Robotics at CES 2021, which is owned and produced by the Consumer Technology Association. Moflin uses a nature-inspired algorithm to learn and grow from patterns it detects through its sensors, according to its creators at Vanguard Industries.
Moflin will choose from an infinite number of mobile and sound pattern combinations to respond and express its feelings. To put it in simple terms, it’s like you’re interacting with a living pet.- Vanguard Industries
It sounds like an advanced Tamagotchi with added fluffy fur and endearing purrs. Cute. Animals have long been said to provide many emotional well-being health benefits.
The robot‘s behavior is determined by its environment and the way in which it’s treated. Vanguard Industries says this gives it a “unique personality” that can provide “tremendous therapeutic benefits” to owners of all ages.
Stacey Norman, who is a cat mom to Goku, cannot stop gushing over the cuteness overload that is Moflin!
