McLaren mayhem: Driver's denial sparks debate after crash
Updated | By Stacey and J Sbu
Police in the Western Cape have launched an investigation into a case of reckless and negligent driving following a high-speed crash captured on video.

A McLaren 570S coupe was involved in a horrific car accident in the Western Cape on Saturday morning, sparking a debate online and a police investigation.
The accident occurred around 6:30 am on High Level Road in Sea Point, Cape Town. According to eyewitnesses, the McLaren was travelling at an astonishing 200km/h before crashing into a pavement and then hitting a boundary wall.
The driver, a musician and content creator, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment. His passenger, who was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt, was also injured and remains in the hospital.
According to a report by IOL, the driver has since taken to social media to deny any fault in the accident, claiming that he was avoiding hitting a homeless beggar and another driver on the wrong side of the road. He also asked the public to pray for his injured passenger.
The accident has sparked widespread outrage, with many calling for the driver to be penalised for reckless driving. The incident has also raised concerns about road safety in SA.
Take a look:
Unbelievable to be driving like this through a residential suburb. Can only end in tragedy. Fortunately it appears only the driver was mildly hurt. Wonder who he is? #McLaren #SeaPoint Anyone with more information on this situation? pic.twitter.com/6tN5E2NcqY
