South Africans have reacted with outrage to the video of a Traffic Officer assaulting a man.
Fikile Mbalula has responded to calls from social media users who tagged him in the video of an alleged Traffic Officer who is seen stopping a motorist who is said to be travelling with his wife.
In the 21 second video shared widely on Twitter, the Traffic Officer is seen opening the door of the motorists car with some force and demanding that he get out of the car and in to what is presumed to be a police car.
The latter part happens after the Traffic Officer slaps the motorist across the face leaving him with a bruised mark on his face. An unidentified woman in the passenger seat is heard in shock exclaiming: 'Haibo"! in reference to the officer slapping the driver.
Many South Africans have responded with disgust and demands for action to be taken against the Traffic Officer whom they express has absolutely no right to lay his hands on the motorist irrespective of the circumstance.

That clap was felt in space... Abuse of power! No matter the situation, a police officer must remain professional. Even if you're provoked, no need to assault a motorist and point a firearm. Those two are criminal offenses. And he'll have to deal with losing his job too

Lets retweet this over and over again until this 'cop' is arrested. I pray God give the victim strength n wisdom to get through this traumatic experience. I also pray that this cop gets dealt with according.

How do you beat someone with a clap yet is not fighting or resisting your orders? These kind of traffic officers should face the full might of law and compensate that guy huge amount of money.
