SEE: Man's tongue turns into the Grinch after smoking these cigarettes
Updated | By Stacey & J Sbu
A rare medical phenomenon has us shook...
Remember lockdown? It may seem hard to believe now it was illegal to leave the house, hug your friends and even buy cigarettes.
Many avid smokers held on to their stock like it was gold and cigarettes became a valuable tender for bartering. When the countries most well known brands became contraband, people turned to a far more obscure and often times questionable brands.

This man from Ohio suffered a strange and slightly embarrassing side effect as a result of smoking tobacco and taking antibiotics.
After a whole two weeks upon noticing his tongue had started to change colour, the 64-year-old man finally went to a doctor. Approximately three weeks before his visit to the doctor, he had completed a course of clindamycin, an antibiotic, for a gum infection.
In a case study from the New England Journal of Medicine, the authors did not indicate whether the condition was caused specifically by smoking, antibiotics or a combination of the two.
The Mirror shares that "previous research has shown a correlation between smoking cigarettes and oral health, including the fact they can cause plaque and bacteria to build up. Antibiotics can also impact the mouth's microbiome, altering bacteria and allowing them to gather on the tongue."

Ultimately, the daring man with the hairy green tongue was diagnosed with a condition aptly named 'hairy tongue'.
"He looks like he's turning into the Grinch," says one social media user.
This is your sign to stay safe and be careful what you put in your mouth!
