Man gets bitten in a delicate spot while on the toilet... ouch!

Well, it's something we all have come to believe is an almost daily occurrence in places such as Australia, but as it turns out it can happen in our own backyard.

According to the New York Post, a 47-year-old Dutchman suffered a very unfortunate injury on a recent SA safari vacation.
The unidentified man had been enjoying his trip to South Africa when he was ambushed by a cobra while making a trip to the restroom.

The snake had bitten him on his genitals after it had been hiding in the toilet bowl and the bite began to cause "scrotal necrosis".
Necrosis is when bacteria infect the tissue in the body and the blood supply fails, which can spread throughout the body and can cause it to rot.

The case has been included in the medical journal Urology Case Reports, but it does not mention when the incident happened and includes some very graphic images of the procedure, so you have been warned. View at your own risk.
His penis and scrotum were noted to be swollen, deep purple in color, and painful on hospital admission. Scrotal necrosis was diagnosed, and he received multiple doses of a non-specific snake venom antiserum and broad-spectrum antibiotics.- Urology Case Reports

The man had to wait three hours to be transported to the closest trauma center, which was 320km away, and he had to be flown by helicopter while he had symptoms that included vomiting, burning, and a shooting pain that went from the bite to his upper chest.
Fortunately enough a plastic surgeon was able to reconstruct the man's genitals once it had healed and he after nine days he was able to return to his home in the Netherlands.
