‘Limited tickets available’: SA influencer sells tickets for lockdown wedding
Updated | By Stacey and JSbu
With over a hundred days of lockdown in South Africa behind us, it has meant that a lot of adjustments have had to be made to momentous occasions - one of those being weddings.
South African influencer Katrinka Kadiekat, like many brides-to-be, had to work around the regulations that have been set by the government with regards to celebratory occasions in which people gather. In compliance with the rules, Katrinka and her fiance planned a virtual wedding in which those nearest and dearest to the couple could still feel part of.
However, those were not the only people invited.
Bizarrely, she sent out an invite on her Instagram page. For a small fee of R150, Katrina shared that the general public, including her 97,000 Instagram followers, could book their ticket to the virtual ceremony, which would take place on Saturday the 4th of July.

Katrina captioned a picture of her and her husband-to-be with this:
"We decided to give you the opportunity to celebrate our intimate wedding with us and be there as guests❤️ limited tickets available , link in bio!’- Katrina
We know of the traditional tales of monster brides who demand heaven and earth, but requesting that complete strangers help pay a fee for catering costs and contribute to your honeymoon expenses is next level!
Social Media was quick to call the bride out for what they deemed to be an outrageous post and request:

I’m all about living your best life - just feel a wedding is a sacred occasion and making complete strangers pay R150 to help you live your best life is too much. Especially if most of your followers are impressionable teenagers. I dunno 🤷🏻♀️

Pretty sure that this is an April fools joke that was postponed to be played now. We were in level 5 lockdown at the time and people need to make up for stuff that they missed out on. There's no way that they're serious about this.

What do you make of this, KZN? Each to their own or is this inappropriate?
