According to LEGO, 'Everything Is Awesome' - and now their latest set has the same important message.
No matter how old you are, everyone loves LEGO!
The iconic toys have been a favourite amongst kids for decades, but it has also become so much more than that.
Whether you want to build a little LEGO home with a little LEGO family or if you're willing to commit to hours of painstakingly delicate work on a LEGO 'Star Wars' Death Star, it's all up to you!
LEGO has been known to push the boundaries with its innovative and creative designs.
The group has also long been committed to celebrating diversity and supporting various communities throughout the world, which they showcase through their incredible products and even in 'The LEGO Movie'.
If you haven't watched the movie yet, you should. It has a rating of 96% on Rotten Tomatoes and its epic theme song, 'Everything Is Awesome', was even nominated for an Oscar!
Now LEGO's incredible legacy will continue with the release of its latest set.
This collection has taken the 'Everything' and turned it into everyone.
Meet the 'Everyone is Awesome' set:
LEGO announced the release on their website saying they're happy to reveal their latest design which celebrates the diversity of their fans and the world around us.
When looking at the colourful building blocks, it's not hard to imagine where the inspiration came from.
The LGBTQIA+ community have long used the rainbow flag proudly as a symbol of acceptance and love, with it now being translated to the iconic toys which include 11 monochrome minifigures. Each minifigure has a unique hairstyle and matches one of the rainbow colours.
Matthew Ashton is a set designer for the company and was the creative brains behind this one.
The model is made up of 346-pieces and would make the perfect bookshelf trinket with it only being 10.24cm tall and 12.80cm deep. It will officially go on sale on the 1st of June, right on time for the start of Pride Month.
And although the colours represent the Pride flag, there is also very intentional use behind them.
Ashton said that black and brown represent the broad diversity of the LGBTQIA+ community, which includes everyone; pale blue, white, and pink represent the transgender community; and even the purple figure represents a drag queen.
I wanted to create a model that symbolises inclusivity and celebrates everyone, no matter how they identify or who they love. Everyone is unique, and with a little more love, acceptance and understanding in the world, we can all feel more free to be our true AWESOME selves! This model shows that we care, and that we truly believe ‘Everyone is awesome’! I am fortunate to be a part of a proud, supportive and passionate community of colleagues and fans. We share love for creativity and self-expression through LEGO bricks and this set is a way to show my gratitude for all the love and inspiration that is constantly shared.- Matthew Ashton, Vice President, Design
The LEGO Group are also not just doing this to help their image.
The company also partners with Workplace Pride, Stonewall, and Open for Business, which is helping them create a supportive environment for their LGBTQIA+ employees. They also support a UK-based charity called, Diversity Role Models
