Leg-lengthening aka limb-lengthening surgery is a procedure that can reduce or correct limb-length discrepancies.
According to specialists, the treatment increases the length of a bone in a patient's arm or leg while also stretching the surrounding muscles, tendons, and ligaments.
This surge in a desire for surgery is being painted as a way to "improve men's self-confidence".
Business Insider reports that after patients undergo this treatment, they are actually taller than the national average.

One doctor, Shahab Mahboubian, shares this rare practice on TikTok.
Dr Mahboubian says: "I specialised in limb-lengthening surgery specifically because I wanted to do something that was different from everybody else. I also wanted to help a portion of the population that didn't have access to services that correct deformities and limb-length discrepancies"

It can cost anywhere from $75,000 to $90,000 (about R1.36-million to R1.63-million), depending on exactly what you want to do. It's not covered by insurance if it's cosmetic.
