Lalela Mswane "filled with gratitude" after Miss Supranational win
Updated | By Tamlyn Canham
The Richards Bay beauty added another crown to her mantle after winning over judges at the Miss Supranational pageant.
Reigning Miss South Africa Lalela Mswane is on cloud nine after winning Miss Supranational 2022.
The 25-year-old was crowned the winner at a ceremony in Poland on Saturday. Miss Thailand was declared the first runner-up, while Miss Vietnam was named the second runner-up.
Lalela was a clear favourite ahead of the final ceremony, with several pageant experts predicting she would make it to the top 5 at the very least.
The Bachelor of Law graduate is the first black woman to win Miss Supranational.
Werner Wessels - who helped Demi-Leigh Tebow and Zozibini Tunzi on their Miss Universe journeys - was on hand to make sure Lalela put her best foot forward.
"I’m in awe! I honestly don’t have the words!" the Miss SA Creative Director said after her big win.
Lalela says she is at a loss for words.
"With this crown I carry the hopes, dreams of women who have come before me and those to come. It serves as affirmation that no dream is too small, no journey insurmountable to conquer. May it be a constant reminder to allow your feet to lead you to wherever it is your heart desires," she wrote on Instagram.
