The statistics can be quite scary.
But not as scary as this story about a tragic kitchen accident.

Middle East In-24, a local news outlet, reported that Issa Ismail, a 25-year-old chef in Iraq, had slipped and fallen into a gigantic pot of chicken soup that he had been preparing for a wedding dinner.
Ismail was one of the chefs working at the Hazel Hall, one of the biggest wedding venues in the Iraqi district of Zakho, when the accident occurred.

The establishment had been preparing for another wedding and Middle Eastern weddings usually host anywhere between 200 - 600 people, so it is quite common for chefs to prepare meals in large vats to accommodate the large quantities.
Unfortunately, this joyous occasion took a horrific turn when Ismail slipped and fell into the vat, which caused him major injuries.
He suffered third-degree burns on 70% of his body and was rushed to Dohuk Hospital.

Sadly, he did not recover and five days later he succumbed to his injuries.
Since his death, his family have addressed the media and his father informed them that Ismail was a father of three and will be leaving behind two daughters and a six-month-old son.

One of his relatives, Zervan Hosni, also spoke about his life as a cook:
The deceased has been working as a cook for 8 years, where he cooked food at wedding parties, mourning boards and various ceremonies, and for two years he has been working in two party halls for 25,000 dinars (R245) per day.- Zervan Hosni
Hopefully, his children will be taken care of now that their father is gone.
