The negative impact of social media has been a topic of discussion for many in recent years.

While these platforms can change lives for the better, they've also been the cause of many awful situations.

Cyberbullying and the pressure to fit in have been shown to negatively impact the mental health of many social media users.

This is why netizens are up in arms over Instagram’s latest update, currently in testing.

According to Adam Mosseri, head of Instagram, some users now have the option to "dislike" comments on posts.

Mosseri clarified that this is just a test, with no dislike count visible, and no one will know if you’ve clicked the dislike button.

“Eventually, we may integrate this signal into comments ranking to move disliked comments lower down. Our hope is that this might help make comments more friendly on Instagram,” he said.
