Stacey and J Sbu heard from KZN listener Tim this week for their feature, #TheFixer.
#TheFixer is a feature on Stacey and J Sbu's show in which the duo gives KZN listeners an opportunity to share their dilemmas that they seek advice on. Together with the help of fellow KZN listeners, Stacey and J Sbu try to help the concerned party fix their problem.
Tim, who is the father of two young 'exceptionally smart and beautiful' girls, has been married to his childhood sweetheart for over twenty years.
Their romance and relationship, even though not without its challenges, has been unshakeable. Tim credits this to his wife's ability to be the quiet in the storms. There is almost nothing that Tim and his wife do not share with one another.
However, Tim has a confession.
Something he has been holding secret for almost six months... Tim has been retrenched.
Listen as Tim shares his story in his own words in the podcast below:
Tim has been waking up everyday and getting ready for work alongside his wife as if everything is normal.
However, he drives off to his nearest coffee shop where he spends most of his mornings and from there, after his wife has done the school drop off and goes to work, Tim heads back home to hide out until evening time.
I am severely depressed I spend my days in coffee shops and sleeping in my car before I go home to sleep in whilst my wife and family think I am at work. I have always been the main provider for my family and I have been blessed in that I have saved enough money to carry the lie out perhaps until the end of the year before suspicions rise in respect to money. My biggest fear is how my wife’s family will look at me- we have a strained relationship as they often but into our family issues. I am so ashamed- Tim, KZN listener
Even though Tim's wife also works, he has always seen himself as the main provider for the family.

He had thought that he would be able to find employment elsewhere before he had to tell his wife the news. According to Tim, he would be able to continue this lie without getting caught until the end of this year.
Tim, is in a very difficult situation one that many people around the world can relate to. The global pandemic has had some devastating effects- one of them being on the economy. Any advice for Tim?
