Grandmother rocked by Beirut explosion plays ‘Auld Lang Syne’ and touches everyone's heart

A moving video has been going around of a grandmother in Lebanon calmly playing “Auld Lang Syne' on the piano in her debris-strewn home in the wake of the massive blast that shook Beirut and the whole world.

On Twitter, the woman’s granddaughter said she was “pushing through her pain” in a moment of “beauty from ashes”.

In the video, the unidentified elderly woman calmly sits at her piano, playing the traditional tune amid the wreckage of what was her home.

Glass and broken furniture is everywhere around her, with the window and a curtain being blown by the wind. A coffee table sits destroyed under the curtain, and decorative artifacts can be seen knocked over.

There are voices that can be heard in the apartment and the sound of shattered glass being moved around.

We can definitely see from the video that this is a strong woman, a woman who has been through hell and still managed to create something beautiful. She is a whole inspiration not only for the people of Beirut, but also for people around the world who are witnessing everything that's happening from the comfort of their own home.
