The flag method: When there's more than meets the eye
It takes a lot to trust someone...
We all know that entering a new relationship can be quite daunting, especially when you're in unfamiliar territory.
What has become a recent trend on TikTok is going to your future boo/current hook-up's place and discussing the things they have in their house that present as 'Red Flags'.
Red flags are things that are warning signs that can indicate unhealthy or manipulative behaviour. They are not always recognisable at first — which is part of what makes them so dangerous.

However, the tables were turned for this TikToker, as what was first seen as a Red Flag, ended up being a Green Flag.

In the video posted by TikToker, @discoveringdevin, she brings up three major things that are suspicious. One being several laptops, the next being a girl's ring, and the last being books about expecting a child.
"If that doesn't scream get out of there, I don't know what does," one user mentioned.
Many other users have shared their two cents on the situation:
- "The laptops…the ring..the books...so confused by all of it!"
- "Maybe he's expecting a niece or nephew. The man is trying to be thoughtful."
- "I didn't realise my multiple computers were red flags"
- "The first 2 are excusable the last one though!"
- "The book is actually a green flag to be honest, it shows he’s learning/willing to understand."
- "These aren’t red flags. They’re red billboards."
Devin later goes on to shift the flag colours to green. She describes how on the flip side there are a lot of things that impressed her.
Some of the red flags that were previously mentioned were explainable and at times the good would outweigh the bad.
