Five-year-old was the hero when he threw toys at intruders during home invasion
Updated | By Stacey and JSbu
You don't have to be a certain age to defend the people you love - and this courageous five-year-old Indiana boy showed the whole world just that.
This boy really showed up. He swatted at one of suspects with so much anger, tossing a toy at him.
There's footage that has now made the rounds and even gone viral of the incident that took place on the 30th of September.
The home invasion, which took place in South Bend, saw four suspects in hoodies barge into a residence.
In the video, you can see that at least three of the men had guns, but that didn’t stop the son of Tamika Reid from trying to protect his mom.
I tried throwing my car at him- The brave kid recalled
The mother was busy ironing and trying to get the day started when the men broke into the house announced.
A moment before the men came in, shots had just been fired, but the suspects were inside the family’s kitchen within seconds and the family clearly couldn't react in time.
But with all that chaos, little David Johnson didn't get scared, but instead he charged for the men. He immediately stood up for his mother and sister, without any hesitation.
My whole thing was — my hero right here — he was steady trying to hit the guys. My thing was, I need to get him out of the house before they do something to my son.- Reid recalled
Luckily for the family, they survived the whole ordeal and no injuries were reported, while nothing from the home was stolen.
The police are still searching for the suspects that fled the scene.
A lot of people are saying this little boy is so brave and he deserves a gold star, and that’s true, he was extremely brave in this situation, But no little boy, nobody in general should have to go through something like this, so it’s really important we get those who are responsible for this heinous crime off the streets.- South Bend police spokeswoman Christine Karsten told the station.
Let's just thank God that nothing happened to the family.
How would you feel if your five-year-old boy stood up for you during a home invasion?
