#FeelGoodTuesday: Thisha Tshabalala meet the woman who is teaching children isiZulu and English on WhatsApp
Updated | By Stacey and JSbu
We love a feel good story! Especially one that has to do with selfless acts - like this week's story of Gloria Mngadi.
Even though many school kids are back in the classroom, there are still some students who are partly attending classes from home.

Unfortunately, not all kids have the privilege to attend classes via Zoom because of a lack of access to data and a laptop. This is why Gloria Mngadi's story is even more appreciated.
Gloria, who is a language practice graduate from the Durban University, has used innovation and creativity to create a positive change in young children's lives.

Gloria Thandekile Mngadi teaches English and isi Zulu through WhatsApp.
Under the heavy lockdown, Gloria, who is from Ndwedwe, launched a WhatsApp group (one that we would join happily). The WhatsApp is group called, 'Ingosia Buntwana'.
The WhatsApp group is run like a normal class, with time set aside for each lesson, where she teaches small children how to read and write isiZulu and English.
It’s much cheaper and gives you access to a disadvantaged community. Language is the center of life and can open up many opportunities, so my plan is to teach them at an early age. We use language in our daily lives. Also, with face-to-face tutorials. We host a monthly reading session.- Gloria Mngadi
Gloria said she began offering language services when she was still a student.
The classes are still being maintained even under level one lockdown and for those students who prefer lessons via Whatsapp call or video call, Gloria gives that option.
What a great feel good story! Gloria is also the author of a book titled, 'uMomo noZuzu Esikoleni', published in 2015.
Gloria, we salute you!
The team gave the station's resident isiZulu teacher a call to find out his thoughts on the work Gloria is doing and he shared this message...
