#FeelGood: Meet the Pietermaritzburg entrepreneur who made his village boy dreams come true
Updated | By Stacey and JSbu
From humble beginnings to possibilities unimagined - this is the story of 28-year-old Zamani Bhengu.
At just the tender age of four, Zamani suffered a painful loss, the loss of his father. He was raised by his mom Ntombiza thereafter and even though life was difficult for his single mother, she persevered.

Ntombiza managed to send her son to Umgungundlovu FET College, where Zamani studied financial management, specialising in entrepreneurship and business management.
His decision on what to study in higher education was inspired by his early introduction to entrepreneurship on the streets of Pietermaritzburg. This is also where his soon-to-be business idea was born as Zamani sold several imported brand watches every morning.
After a lot of patience and research, Zamani established connections with those who had more knowledge than him with regards to watches. His efforts were rewarded when he partnered up with international brands, designers, and assemblers to establish his very own brand.

AmaBhengu Fashion watches are mechanical watches that function with gears and a main string that is winded periodically as opposed to watches that run on a battery.
The watches are made from crystal minerals, are water resistant, and the hands are luminous.
When Stacey and J Sbu heard of Zamani's inspiring entrepreneurship journey, they knew that they wanted to feature him in their #FeelGood feature that they run every Tuesday.

Zamani shared with the team the exciting news that his watches would be available for purchase on Takealot.com as soon as next month already!

With the help of some Good Samaritans in business who recognised Zamani's progress, he launched his very own business website, on which he drives the sale of his watches from. You can view his products here.
Zamani officially launched AmaBhengu Fashion watches in March 2021 on social media platforms. His hopes and dreams include extending his watch range and collaborating with a few artists such as DJ Tira and Black Coffee.
Zamani hopes his journey will inspire and motivate other aspiring entrepreneurs to be willing to start small and 'trust the process'.
