Plot twist: they're all horror movies!
Believe it or not, some people go to the cinema and choose to spend money on a movie that will possibly give them nightmares for a week.

Are they masochists? Maybe.
According to FinanceBuzz, a finance company, the horror genre is the most profitable when to comes to the silver screen, no matter what type of budget they had to work with.

The genre lends itself to be effective even in its simplicity. Many viewers will tell you that Alfred Hitchcock's 'Psycho' is still one of the creepiest and scariest movies ever created, even without all the high-end special effects and CGI that the creators of today have access to.
Even in the modern age of cinema, 'Paranormal Activity', which was released in 2007, was produced with a budget of $15,000 and ended up making a massive $193 million at the box office.

While some of us might never understand the horror appeal, these freaky fans could be cashing in on their love of all things creepy-crawly.
FinanceBuzz has announced that they are looking for a "horror lover for hire who is brave enough to watch 13 scary movies".

Why are they asking someone to subject themselves to hours upon hours of the scariest movies that have ever been made?
The answer is pretty simple - they want to know if high-budget horror movies deliver more scares than low-budget films by monitoring the viewer's heart rate.

They are looking to hire a "Horror Movie Heart Rate Analyst" for a once-off payment of R19,306 and they'll even send the "analyst" a Fitbit that will be used for heart rate recordings.
The assignment:
You’ll help us discover whether or not a movie’s budget impacts just how dread-inducing it can be by wearing a Fitbit to monitor your heart rate while you work your way through the list of 13 movies below. You’ll also rank the movies based on your prediction of the size of their production budgets.- FinanceBuzz

The list of scary movies includes a good mix of low-budget and high-budget movies.

Seeing as it's so close to spooky season, this seems like a killer movie night line-up!

Applications for the position close on the 26th of September but unfortunately all applicants have to be based in the USA.
While your geographic location might stop you from getting paid while increasing your heart rate, start your own study by DIYing it at home and see what the results are.
