#CrocGate: The story behind the shoes causing a divide between Stacey and J Sbu

What started as an innocent joke has turned into something much bigger...
Fashion trends come and go.

Sure, there are a few things that will remain in style forever, but, usually, it will pop in and out before you could even get your hands on the exclusive item (or knock-off version).
Scrunchies were a hair staple for decades and all of a sudden they dropped off the face of the earth. The same goes for bellbottoms, tie-dye, platforms, crop-tops, bucket hats, and so many others.

Funny thing is that every single clothing item or accessory just mentioned were gracing pages of magazines decades ago, disappeared, and have now made such a comeback that they are once again featuring on billboards, catwalks, and everywhere else.
2002 saw the birth of one of the most controversial shoes of all time: Crocs.

They were adored for being some of the most comfortable shoes you will ever wear, but many people were questioning the shape of the shoe and were just not into it.
They were still massively popular but were seen as a fashion abomination that was not to be worn outside the house. In fact, they were only to be worn when gardening or fishing and that's it.

Crocs continued to do their thing though and within the last two years, it seems like everyone has done a full 180.
Every pop star, from the Biebs to Post Malone, has released a collaboration with the brand or are dying to and legendary fashion houses have even jumped on the trend and featured their own unique styles on the runway.

Whether you like it or not, these shoes might be the hottest trend in 2021.
And, obviously, the queen of all things fashionable and trendy, Stacey Norman, is ready to invest in her own pair.
But at the first mention of these shoes, J Sbu was already having none of it and so #CrocGate began:

Stacey had still not worn the shoes to work and J Sbu had been dreading the day when he would show up and have to share the studio with those things.
Unfortunately for him, that day would be none other than Friday the 13th:
