Competitor gets third place after going the wrong way during triathlon
Updated | By Stacey & JSbu
This is sportsmanship - and we need to see more of it in our lives.
Spanish triathlete Diego Méntriga noticed during the race that British counterpart James Teagle went the wrong way before the finish line of the Santander Triathlon. He then waited, as seen in the video, and let Teagle finish in third place.

“He was in front of me the whole time.He deserved it.” Méntriga said.
A lot of people had a lot to say about the incident, but most people were in support and proud of Méntriga's actions.
What an absolute sport Diego Mentriga was in giving up a chance to gain a Bronze medal because James Teague made an error. He should be given recognition for his gesture, not ridiculed by the bombastic jerks stating ‘winning is all’. Stuff them, well done Diego for sportmanship- @cappodimonte
And others were just against the whole moment:
Appreciate the sportsman spirit, but that was dumb. The other guy wasn't ignorant, he just rushed it. Checked the video 3 times and it was clearly a mistake done in aggression. Such aggression should not be responded with kindness.- @kdpradhan
What do you think, KZN? Did Diego Méntriga do the right thing?
