CAUGHT: CCTV footage of family using a child to steal in Westwood Mall
Updated | By Stacey and J Sbu
The video footage has left parents and a community in disgust as it is clearly seen that a young boy is being used in a criminal act.
It is reported that the family captured in the latest incident of theft at Westwood Mall are notorious repeat offenders.
In a video that is circulating online after being shared on the DUC Facebook social media platforms, a family of three of what looks like an older woman, daughter, and a young boy, who could be mistaken to be under the age of 10, walk into a cellphone shop at Westwood Mall.
In the store, one woman is seated and another is seemingly the shop assistant. Whilst the young boy walks around and unassumingly assess the devices on display, the two other women are seen querying about other devices that are on display. Almost as a distraction for the shop assistant.
Unfortunately for this family, there is another shopper in the store, who makes their task of stealing a little bit more difficult. Realising this, you can see a change of strategy for this family as they draw the attention of the shop assistant to the other end of the store, whilst one of the women stand in front of the only other shopper.
The lady in question tries to block her view as the young boy clearly goes to the end of the room and opens up the cupboard to take something from it. Whilst the young boy does so, he notices that there is a camera on him and quickly takes the phone and puts it under his T-shirt.
After a few more filler conversations with the shop assistant, the family is seen getting ready to leave the store with what the young lad had stolen.
