Calls for prayers for N3 accident victims: "We are spending every waking moment praying"
Updated | By Stacey and JSbu
On Monday night last week, a tragic multiple vehicle accident happened on the N3. Ten individuals were seriously injured.
Listen to Stacey and JSbu asking KZN for some loving words of encouragement for the Van Rooyen family:
Leon Fourie, spokesperson for Life Response, confirmed 10 vehicles were involved in the accident. The girlfriend of one of the victims of the accident, Kayla Rix, has spoken out and asked for prayers for her partner Mike van Rooyen, a 32-year-old admin manager who lives in Hillcrest.
According to Kayla, she was halfway through making dinner when she got the call about the accident. Mike was found unconscious on the scene.
We’re assuming the truck hit his car and the car hit him. He was out of the car, we know that for sure- Kayla Rix
Kayla and the Van Rooyen family have been at the bedside of Mike since Wednesday. She shares that he has been in a coma since then and doctors are monitoring his progress, but there has been none so far. Kayla has called for prayers for the man she says she loves "more than anything in the world".
On the night before the accident, Kayla shares that the couple had spoken about getting married before the accident. She still has hopes that he will fully recover so that these plans can become a reality.
He may not be awake, but I know without a doubt that he knows we’re there! Prayers, thoughts, vibes and everything else positive is so appreciated because we have no doubt that it’s working! Thank you so much to everyone who has shown support so far, we are so grateful. Let’s please, please, please, keep it up!- Kayla Rix
In an update on her Facebook page, Kayla shared the following:
UPDATE ON MIKE: Hi everyone ❤️ I thankfully was allowed to see our amazing Mike in ICU this afternoon, and he looks great. Obviously he's full of tubes and wires but he's breathing nicely and isn't overly dependent on the machine. His colour is good and he isn't nearly as bruised as we expected. He's in a coma at the moment but that's not unusual. They've kept him sedated up until now but they've reduced sedation a bit so they can run various tests. Tomorrow they're planning to run some tests to assess brain function. I have no doubt that he's going to be TOTALLY FINE ❤️❤️❤️ but prayers and positive thoughts are still essential!!! Please please please pray for his functionalities to all be whatever they need to be and for his healing to be as easy and positive as possible. ❤️ I can feel him around me constantly, so I really want all of our thoughts and prayers to help him feel the same way ❤️ Please share and spread the word, every positive thought makes a difference!- Kayla Rix
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Van Rooyen family and Kayla during this difficult time.
