With a rise in imports, thieves are targeting the latest shipments of hair extensions and wigs.
Cargo thefts and hijackings are also increasing in popularity, especially on highly insured goods.
These hair product manufacturers are having to increase their insurance premiums due to the boom in thefts.

On top of the stolen hair products, solar panels and cannabis are among some of the other goods that these pirates have their sights on.

"We have certain hotspots in South Africa, distribution centres in the Joburg area specifically. So those are the more common incidents," says Marika Van Rhyn, who is the Hollard Marine’s senior business development manager.
She also spoke on the significant import growth, with South Africans seeking alternate power solutions as Eskom's unstable electricity supply burdens them.
