The Blue Tick Kerfuffle: 'It's a blue tick bloodbath'
Updated | By East Coast Radio
To blue tick or not to blue tick, that is the question...
Well, guys, Twitter has followed through with its promise.

READ: Blue ticks start vanishing
Blue ticks - which are used to verify a user on the social media platform - are now reserved for those who pay for it.
'Twitter Blue', as it is now called, is priced at R200 ($11) a month for app users and R144 ($8 )a month for web users. The pricing varies depending on where you are located globally.
What this means now is that anyone is able to verify themselves by coughing up the stipulated monthly fee. Previously, only those who warranted a blue tick - mainly those in the public eye or companies to avoid fake accounts being taken seriously - were able to obtain one. Not anymore.

More from ECR
In the build up to this move, Twitter moved all those unwilling to pay to a yellow tick, which showed their blue tick legacy status. Those yellow ticks are now gone, making the app rather confusing.
A large chunk of celebrities are not falling for what many users are describing as a "scam" from the Elon Musk-owned platform. Some have decided to delete their profiles, while others will continue without the previously coveted blue tick.
Below is some of the response to the move by Twitter and Musk - which is being described as the 'Blue Tick Bloodbath':

No blue check but this is me. Don’t fall for imposters. Remember I have a 92 at the end of my handle. @ Jack Quaid was taken by someone impersonating me in 2011. It was the whole reason I got a twitter in the 1st place. If only there was some sort of… free verification system…
