The period panty is now readily available all around South Africa.

The new big thing that has been racking up major attention all over the internet - and we are in full support of it!

The period panty is not a new concept for many, but is now readily available around South Africa due to the influence on major businesses stocking it at a cost-effective price.

The period panty has the same look as a regular underwear, however, it does include 4 layers of protection that is comfortable, leak-free and odour-free.

They absorb the moisture and discharge from your period in order to remain dry and carry out your daily activities.

They are made from a cotton, polyester mix and have anti-bacterial protection throughout the different layers.

Although thicker, it does not compromise the integrity of the underwear and feel-good, comfortable fit.

The whole concept of this period panty are that they are a solution to period poverty, which is a big issue faced by so many South African are unable to afford sanitary pads and access to basic sanitary products. 

It is also renewable, washable and does not create as much waste as the standard sanitary products.

They also provide easy of use for people who are on the go or are in an area with restricted access to supplies.

Stacey shared her take on the period panties: “That seems sketchy to me. I’ve got one but I would only wear it on the last day cause I have severe trust issues but it's a great idea for other ladies around KZN.”

Some responses are as follows:

  • "Buying some for myself and to donate this is gold here!"
  • "We have a winner here!!! I will stock up on these! Saving the environment and my pocket at the same time! Can't wait to purchase for myself and my daughter...."
  • "I used them before finding my diva cup, and they are nice, but I still feel better when using the cup because I feel the placement better."
  • "I was against them but then once I tried them- I can’t live without them! At 40 years old and 3 kids later, my body just doesn’t want anything shoved in it anymore."
  • "Omgosh I have wanted to try some, but goodness I am not sure they would do the job!"

As you can see there has been much speculation and positive feedback regarding this inventive sanitary product. Before you dismiss it, we urge you to have a read on what they bring to the table.
