We've heard about disappearing airplanes and airplanes experiencing technical issues midflight but it is quite something different to witness a plane that was seemingly fine, spontaneously combust during its last few seconds in the air.
Upon returning from Germany a 747 cargo plane found itself in a heated situation as it was landing at East Midlands Airport.

It was reported that the plane hit the runway and made a loud 'bang' noise as flames started to appear. The plane slowly came to a halt and smoke started rising from the back of the jet's engine.
While it has not yet been confirmed what was the cause of the incident, a witness said that it seemed like something had gone into the engine as it came in contact with the ground.

Luckily, according to sources, no one was seriously injured.
Although they might be a little traumatised and less likely to step foot on a plane from this day on.

Do note however that according to To70 large commercial airplanes had 0.27 fatal accidents per million flights in 2020, or one fatal crash every 3.7 million flights.
Really not too bad when you put it into perspective.
