Adulthood is not the dream that was sold to us as youngsters

Being an adult means you need to be accountable for your own life. In addition to that, you sometimes have to be accountable for other people's lives, because if you aren't, no one else will.
Everything in life now costs money. Trips to the mall, hospital, doctor's appointments, school fees, lights, food, entertainment, petrol, water, the list goes on...

Then you find yourself doing some heavy lifting that you didn't ask for, but out of nowhere, it ends up being your responsibility and hurting your pocket at the same time.
Sometimes those sacrifices aren't even financial, as we end up not doing things that we really want to do because of the people we care for. We end up taking on certain responsibilities that we weren't even asked to take over or those people don't even know about, just so those nearest and dearest to us can be happy or live a happy life.
This is how Stacey felt about taking on extra responsibility:
I think manly I'm sort of the peace keeper in my family, we not a very big family but we all quiet feisty and there are a lot of misunderstanding and some tension sometimes, so I'm the one who will kind of go in to create some peace and have a Sunday lunch without food being thrown around. It's quiet taxing actually- Stacey Norman
JSbu added:
There's been a lot of things I've had to sacrifice for my family, but my biggest one was sacrificing a trip to overseas. It was a DJ trip but i would have been away from my family an my son for over a month and my baby was still very young so i couldn't leave him behind. So sacrificed apart of my carrier for him but i don't regret that all.- JSbu
So, KZN, we want to know from you, what small or big sacrifices do you make for your family all the time that they don’t know about?
