Updated | By Stacey & J Sbu
There is nothing that can compare to a mothers loss.
When a loved one leaves us, it often feels as though we are drowning. In order to stay afloat in the ocean of life, we must go through the grieving process and face our emotions.
One listener shared a story with us that has been very difficult on her family...
She has asked us to not reveal her identity:
Exactly 3 years ago… my sister was killed in a hit and run. She was 2 days shy of her 21st Birthday. She was my best friend and I her big sis. My mom has never been the same since her death. She is clinically depressed and often spirals out of control especially in lead up to the date of her death which is a few weeks away. My father and I have tried everything to help her deal with her grief, it is hard for us to- but we understand that a mothers grief is unlike any other. She see’s a therapist on and off and we have done many interventions My dad, is considering what I think will be unforgiveable on my moms end- admitting her for an assessment at a psychiatric institution- we are terrified to leave her alone and there are days where she does not eat or sleep. I love my mom so much and I just want to carry her pain on my shoulders- I am afraid this grief will actually kill her- KZN Listener
This listener shares with us that three years ago, she lost her sister due to a hit and run, two days shy of her sister's 21st birthday.
She was a best friend and a big sibling to her sister. The toll that it has taken on the listener has been grave, however, the effect that it has taken on the mother has been worse.

The mother has never been the same since this incident happened.
She is now clinically depressed and spirals out of control, especially leading up to the death date, which is in a few weeks.
To aid the mother's grief, she has been seeing a therapist on and off and several interventions have occurred.
The family is perplexed and no longer knows what to do. They don't want to do the "unforgivable", which to them is place the mother in a psychiatric facility.
Although, they are severely worried as she is not sleeping or eating. They do not trust leaving her alone.
The listener describes that she loves her mom dearly and will always be there for her, but she is afraid that this grief might kill her.
