Who makes better single parents - moms or dads?

I spent the day with a friend of mine who grew up with his mom as his sole provider until the age of eight, then from the age of eight he spent the rest of his childhood with his father as his sole provider. 

He admitted that his dad made a better single parent than his mother. I know society’s perception is that a mother would make a better single parent. However, after talking to him and hearing his side of the story, personally I tend to agree with his view. I think that fathers make better single parents
