Pamela Nomvete bares all with Thandolwethu
Updated | By East Coast Urban
She played the iconic role of 'Ntsiki' on SABC 1's soapie 'Generations', a role that brought her fame and misfortune.
So, how does a TV star's life end up in such tatters to the point where she had to sell clothes on the street of Johannesburg to survive? Listen as Nomvete shares her powerful story and resilience to bounce back with Thandolwethu below:
Pamela Nomvete was born in Ethiopa and studied in the UK at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. She moved to South Africa in 1994, where she embarked on a very successful television career.
The role that opened doors for Pamela was the one of Ntsiki Lukhele, a character everyone loved to hate. The role catapulted her to new levels of fame and media attention. But whilst everyone thought she was living the dream, Pamela was suffering in silence.
A failed marriage at the hands of her husband's infidelity, depression, and living on the street was her rock bottom.
My self-esteem was rock bottom and sinking. Slowly‚ I was just being broken down. Everything was going out and nothing was going in. I wasn’t nurturing Pamela. By the time my partner decided to move his whole family into my house‚ Pamela was gone and I was asking myself who am I?- Pamela Nomvete
